Shaping inclusive digital and green transitions in working life

Published on June 17th 2025

The digital and green transitions are two of the most influential forces reshaping our economies and societies. Together, they are transforming working life, from the demand for new skills to changes in how workers interact with one another and with technology, as well as introducing new opportunities and risks for labour inclusion. Understanding the implications of these changes is crucial to ensuring a sustainable, just and inclusive future.

An interdisciplinary team from Vestlandsforsking (Western Norway Research Institute), NORCE and Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy is exploring this topic. The Just Transform project, funded by the Norwegian Research Council, investigates how the digital and green transitions are being shaped and discuss across policy, organisational and individual spheres.

The project team has recently published the report and policy brief  Shaping inclusive digital and green transitions in working life. These publications offer insights into the policy dimensions of the transitions, analysing how they are addressed in policy documents in the context of working life. They examine how these transitions are transforming work, identify key policy approaches, and highlight opportunities for more systemic and forward-looking approaches to support sustainable and inclusive transformations.
