Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy, together with colleagues from the Institute for Manufacturing, has issued a counterargument to The Economist’s June 14 editorial: The world must escape the manufacturing delusion.
In a detailed response published in The Economist on 3 July, CIIP Policy Analysts Dr Carlos López-Gómez, Dr Mateus Labrunie, and Professor Tim Minshall, Head of the Institute for Manufacturing, argue that manufacturing remains a vital engine of innovation, productivity, and regional prosperity – and that turning away from it would be a strategic error.
