Innovation is key to achieving a sustainable economy and supporting high-value jobs. Addressing pressing socio-economic challenges requires the development and large-scale deployment of new technologies across our industrial sectors. The UK government restructure signals the intention to turn scientific and technical innovations into practical, applicable solutions to help make sure the UK is the most innovative economy in the world.

Join us as we launch the UK Innovation Report 2023 and explore the UK’s innovation activity and its industrial performance in a global context.

The report, from Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy, University of Cambridge, is an essential resource for government and industry. It combines innovation and value-added indicators with sectoral analyses of the food and drink and aerospace sectors and the performance of innovation in net-zero-related technologies.

Expect to hear from expert keynote speakers who will share the latest UK government commitments on R&D expenditure, the latest data on UK productivity performance by sector and how net-zero innovation translates into economic growth in the UK.

Speakers include:

  • Lord David Sainsbury – Chancellor of the University of Cambridge and former Minister of Science and Innovation
  • Aimie Stone – Chief Economist, ADS (Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space) Group
  • Professor Tim Minshall – Dr John C Taylor Professor of Innovation & Head of the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge
  • Miles Gray – Aerospace Policy Lead at the Department of Business and Trade
  • Nina Gryf – Senior Policy Manager, Make UK
  • Dr Carlos López-Gómez – Head of the Policy Links Unit, Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge
