Introduction to industrial innovation policy: Emerging international approaches and effective practices

This course supports the work of civil servants and policy professionals by offering a thorough introduction to technology and innovation policy. The course will draw insights from international best practices and past policy experiences, supported by the latest academic research carried out at the University of Cambridge. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of understanding the national context if policy making is to be effective.

• The effects of the new global industrial context and how it has the potential to transform manufacturing as we know it
• An understanding of how modern policy-making is taking place in the context of increasing competition for the industrial activities with the most “high value” capture potential
• An overview of the latest innovation policies, programmes and practices in selected industrial countries, as well as the latest technological developments with the potential to disrupt global industries
