Mateus Labrunie

Policy Analyst, Policy Links, IfM Engage

Mateus Labrunie is finishing his PhD at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge, where he worked under the supervision of Dr Ha-Joon Chang on the challenges of industrial policy and technological catching-up in the context of the so-called 'Fourth Industrial Revolution', with a focus on Brazil.

Before that, he got his bachelor's degree in Economics and Master's in Economics of Industry and Technology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - his home town.

A strong believer in industrial policy and structural change as drivers of economic development, Mateus joins the Policy Links Unit with the goal of contributing to spreading knowledge and best-practices to governments and other interested parties. Outside of work, Mateus likes to play volleyball at competitive level, and to go swimming and hiking
