New industrial capabilities for new economic growth: A review of international policy approaches to strengthening value chain capabilities (2017)
A study for the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
This study was conducted to inform policy approaches for strengthening industrial value chain capabilities in the UK. As a part of this work, a review of innovation programmes and initiatives in major industrial countries was conducted. Policy options are discussed across four opportunity areas for the UK: addressing domestic supply chain opportunities; promoting diffusion of productivity-enhancing technologies; promoting R&D among SMEs in the value chain; and enabling the development of the value chains of the future.
