Supporting the UK’s Semiconductor Strategy

Published on June 1st 2024

A project for the  Department for Science, Innovation and Technology  (DSIT).

Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy (CIIP), through IfM Engage, led a ten-month study to inform the UK Government’s £1 billion Semiconductor Strategy. The study gathered insights from over 185 organisations and 400 individuals across the UK semiconductor sector.

A key recommendation from the study was the creation of an independent UK Semiconductor Institute, to provide long-term strategic direction, coordinate investment, and strengthen collaboration between industry, academia and government.

The new Institute, endorsed by the Semiconductor Advisory Panel, will help drive growth, attract investment, and enhance the UK’s resilience in semiconductor supply chains.
