‘Emerging stronger from COVID-19: International review of industrial policy responses’: Background paper for UNIDO’s Industrial Development Report 2022

The Industrial Development Report (IDR) is a bi-annual flagship publication and the major research output of UNIDO, covering the latest developments and trends in the area of industrial development in a global context. The upcoming IDR has chosen ‘The Future of Industrialization in a Post-Pandemic World’ as its working title.

The background paper will build on recent work delivered by Policy Links, including but not limited to a review of international approaches to supporting manufacturing supply chains and workforce, industrial policy advice in developing Asia, and ongoing collaborations with international partners. The paper will develop a framework for policy action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
