Published on February 9th 2024

We are delighted to welcome Marco Kamiya to Cambridge Industrial Innovation Policy (CIIP) as a new Policy Affiliate. Mr. Kamiya brings a distinguished track record in policy development, currently serving as the UNIDO representative in Jakarta for Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN Affairs.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kamiya has held pivotal roles, including Chief of the Division of Digital Transformation and AI Strategies at UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna, Chief of the Urban Economy and Finance at UN-Habitat in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as senior positions at CAF Development Bank for Latin America in Caracas, Venezuela, and the Interamerican Development Bank in Washington DC, United States. He is also a senior member of the United Nations Economist Network (UNEN).

Mr. Kamiya’s extensive work in Asia, Africa, and Latin America has led him to spearhead field projects and programs and oversee the Operational Framework on Digital Transformation at UNIDO. His contributions also extend to co-editing the Springer series on the Global Urban Competitiveness Report in collaboration with UN-Habitat and The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Notably, he co-edited “Finance for City Leaders” alongside Le-Ying Zhan at University College London, with contributions from esteemed global research institutes and development banks.

Mr. Kamiya will play a pivotal role in enhancing global networks, engaging in interdisciplinary projects, and producing analytical work. This partnership is a follow-up to the longstanding collaboration between UNIDO and the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), focusing on matters of industry and government, manufacturing strategy, technology management, and manufacturing policy. We are enthusiastic about the impactful contributions that will advance the frontiers of the institute and the industry.
